Matt Mizerek, born March 3, 1984, in Middletown, CT, USA, is an American artist, author, musician and entrepreneur.

Despite an abusive childhood, violent life while living in Brooklyn, NY, in 2002 after the 9/11 tragedy, and surviving two strokes at age 33, Matt perseveres to spread his message of living 'true to yourself.'

His youth was spent as the lead singer in a ska-punk band and creating artwork, merch and websites for musicians around the NYC area.

He established a career in marketing and worked with established companies and individuals such as Bill Ford, David Copperfield, Harley Davidson, Arizona Iced Tea, JW Marriott, and more.

During this time, however, Matt battled severe health issues due to being prescribed over 11  - none of which his body needed. These prescribed medications continued from the abuse during childhood from his mother, later confirmed to have Munchausen disorder.

His body was failing with a weight of 280lbs and had thyroid disorder, fatty liver disease, and needed breathing assistance with a C-PAP machine.

At age 33 at a family outing, Matt suffered two massive strokes due to a dissection of his vertebral artery.

He experienced an out-of-body experience that changed his life forever.

After 11 days in the hospital, Matt spent the next several years physically and mentally recovering - detoxing himself off of every medication and unneccesary diet.

He lost over 90 pounds and has regained his strength and lust for life.

he coaches basketball, mentors youth, and is a father to two boys.

In 2025, he founded Built For Better Apparel, a clothing company featuring designs of acceptance and unity, in which proceeds are donated to several non-profit organizations.

He has been featured on numerous podcasts, such as Positive Talk Radio, and on online magazines such as Forbes, Brainz Magazine and Marquis Who's Who in America, for his ventures in the arts, marketing, and non-profit industries.

Matt's life story is one of harrowing resilience, documented in his self-published memoir, Revelations Through Resilience: 15 Lifechanging Realizations From Surviving Two Strokes at Age 33.
